One of the biggest questions people ask (especially when life hurts) is this:
“Did God do this to me?”
When sickness, pain, or suffering shows up, it’s easy to assume God is behind it. Some people even say things like “God is teaching me a lesson” or “God allowed this for a reason.” But is that actually what the Bible teaches?

When Questions Go Unanswered, Faith Gets Stuck
Before you can receive anything from God, some questions have to be settled.
As long as your mind is full of unanswered questions, doubt creeps in. And where doubt lives, faith struggles to grow. Faith doesn’t work well in confusion.
This chapter comes from a place of real pain: being sick, bedfast, and facing death as a teenager. Questions like:
- Why was I born this way?
- Did God cause this?
- Is God punishing me?
- Why me?
These aren’t fake “church questions.” These are real, human questions, and the Bible doesn’t ignore them.
The Lie That Stops Faith Cold
One of the most dangerous lies people believe is this:
“God is the one who made me sick.”
Another version of the same lie sounds more spiritual:
“God didn’t cause it, but He allowed it for a purpose.”
But here’s the truth:
If God caused it (or if He planned it) then believing Him for healing would mean fighting His will. That doesn’t make sense.
God doesn’t heal people from what He intentionally gave them.
What About the Man Born Blind? (John 9 Explained)
Some people point to John 9 and say God made the man blind so He could heal him later. But that’s not what Jesus said.
Jesus didn’t explain why the man was blind—He immediately did the works of God by healing him.
God wasn’t glorified by the blindness.
God was glorified by the healing.
Jesus didn’t blame God.
He fixed the problem.
What About the Man Born Blind? (John 9 Explained)
Everything changed with one verse:
“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.” — Acts 10:38
Read that again.
- Jesus went about doing good
- Healing was called good
- Sickness was called oppression
- And the oppressor was clearly named: the devil
That verse answers the question once and for all.
God is the healer
Satan is the oppressor
Jesus is the deliverer
Why This Truth Matters for Young People
If you believe God causes sickness:
- You’ll struggle to trust Him.
- You’ll hesitate to pray.
- You’ll accept pain you should resist
But when you know the truth:
- Faith rises.
- Hope returns.
- Healing becomes possible
Truth doesn’t just inform—it liberates.
